چکیده

The single crystal X-ray diffraction study of capped γ-peptide reveal that the peptide adopts helical conformation which self-assemble to form a supramolecular parallel double helical structure using intermolecular hydrogen bonding as well as π-π stacking interactions in the solid state.

Supramolecular structure of helical ribbons self-assembled from a b-sheet peptide

We have investigated the supramolecular structure of helical ribbons formed during self-assembly of a b-sheet peptide using computer simulation. We tested a wide range of molecular packing geometries consistent with the experimental dimensions to identify the most stable structure, and then systematically changed the helical geometry to investigate its energy landscape. The effect of pH was inc...

Cyclic constraints on conformational flexibility in γ-peptides: conformation specific IR and UV spectroscopy.

Single-conformation spectroscopy has been used to study two cyclically constrained and capped γ-peptides: Ac-γACHC-NHBn (hereafter γACHC, Figure 1a), and Ac-γACHC-γACHC-NHBn (γγACHC, Figure 1b), under jet-cooled conditions in the gas phase. The γ-peptide backbone in both molecules contains a cyclohexane ring incorporated across each Cβ-Cγ bond and an ethyl group at each Cα. This substitution pa...

X-ray crystallographic signature of supramolecular triple helix formation from a water soluble synthetic tetrapeptide.

Single crystal X-ray diffraction studies on the water soluble, synthetic tetrapeptide Tyr(1)-Aib(2)-Tyr(3)-Val(4) with a non-coded amino acid residue (Aib: [small alpha]-amino isobutyric acid) reveal that the peptide adopts an "S"-shaped molecular structure which self-assembles to form a supramolecular triple helix using various non-covalent interactions including water mediated hydrogen bonds ...

Tracking morphologies at the nanoscale: self-assembly of an amphiphilic designer peptide into a double helix superstructure.

Hierarchical self-assembly is a fundamental principle in nature, which gives rise to astonishing supramolecular architectures that offer an inspiration for the development of innovative materials in nanotechnology. Here we present the unique structure of a cone-shaped amphiphilic designer peptide. When tracking its concentration-dependent morphologies, we observed elongated bilayered single tap...

Strand invasion of mixed-sequence, double-helical B-DNA by γ-peptide nucleic acids containing G-clamp nucleobases under physiological conditions.

Peptide nucleic acids (PNAs) make up the only class of nucleic acid mimics developed to date that has been shown to be capable of invading double-helical B-form DNA. Recently, we showed that sequence limitation associated with PNA recognition can be relaxed by utilizing conformationally preorganized γ-peptide nucleic acids (γPNAs). However, like all the previous studies, with the exception of t...
